The Legacy lives on

DSC03071.jpg

In 1923, the Baptist Student Union was founded at the University of Oklahoma, through the vision of First Baptist Church Norman and longtime pastor E.F. “Preacher” Hallock. Today, it is known as Baptist Collegiate Ministry.

For over a century, BCM has been sustained by God’s grace through the faithful prayers and generosity of alumni and Oklahoma Baptists.

In 2019, God provided a new home for BCM at 1203 Elm Avenue—right between the dorms and the fraternity and sorority houses.

Positioned at the heart of campus life, BCM stands ready to reach the next generation.

HISTORY

We want to be the type of people who Know, Love, & Glorify God by Declaring the Gospel, Developing qualified laborers &  Deploying reporducers into the harvest!

MISSION

Students are looking for purpose and a place to belong.

Our ultimate purpose is to know, love, and glorify God.  We train students in key areas of discipline such as devotional lives, scripture memory, evangelism, discipleship & missions.

Our ministry also  looks to see that students have a space to belong to biblical peer communtiy and discipleship focused on Christ likeness.

STRATEGY

.
Join The Sooner Bridge: An Alumni Association

The Sooner Bridge connects:

  • Former BSU and BCM students with one another

  • Alumni with the current BCM ministry

  • Alumni with today’s students

It recognizes that what God did in our generation was not an isolated season — it was part of an ongoing movement. The Bridge ensures that relationships endure, stories are shared, wisdom is passed down, and investment continues.

A bridge is not built for admiration. It is built for crossing.

We invite you to become:

  • A Prayer Partner for the students and staff of OU BCM

  • A Financial Partner strengthening disciple-making on this campus

  • An Advocate helping expand this ministry across the nation and the world

The same gospel that changed our lives is changing lives today. And through faithful partnership, it will continue shaping generations to come.
