Is Missions Really Worth It?

Great Hall

Is missions really worth it? There are so many needs around us, and the world is so crazy, do we really need to go overseas to share the gospel? Come find out theologically and practically the answer to these questions.

After College: Developing a vibrant faith, authentic fellowships, and finding hope in the Real World

Big Horn Upper

Students transitioning out of college ministry face many challenges upon graduation. The joy of finishing school is often followed by uncertainty, and a difficult year of entry level jobs, or intern work that can cause even mature Christians to face despair. This sessions will focus on navigating this season of changes with practical insights into finding churches upon a move, making friends in a new community, and resting in the hope believers have in Christ.

John Mark Hart

What is “love,” anyway?

Big Horn Lower

The Bible says “God is love“ (1 John 4:8), and Jesus taught that the greatest commandments are to love God and our neighbors (Matthew 22:34-40). But our culture (like many cultures throughout history) seems to be deeply confused about what the word “love” actually means. In this workshop, we will do a deep dive into the Bible‘s teaching on this topic. We will explore what it means to say God loves us and what it means for us to love God and one another. We will also talk about practical ways we can actively cooperate in the Holy Spirit’s work of helping us trust and imitate the love of God. Come ready to get excited about the gospel of Jesus and inspired to live redemptively in the world.

A Case of Mistaken Identity

Great Hall

At one time or another, we’ve all mistaken someone for someone else—or been mistaken for someone else. How quickly we can become convinced we recognize someone… and how quickly we can be wrong. Other than a few bruised egos, little damage is done when we get this wrong. However, if we have a mistaken idea of who God is—if we’ve mistaken Him for someone else—it can be devastating. It’s something we simply can’t afford to get wrong.

The God You Believe in: Faith, Doubt, and Identity

Carriage House Dining

It doesn’t seem uncommon that people who claim to be followers of Jesus to experience frustration, are unsatisfied, or just disappointed with their Christian life. Why is it that some people (at least it appears that way) read great books, attend wonderful conferences, and are involved with good churches, and yet struggle to trust God? Simply stated, why does it seem like the Christian life “works” for some and not for others? If you are among the strugglers, there is a pretty good chance the root problem is a faulty view of God. The purpose of this workshop is to help you identify and begin to correct wrong beliefs about God.

01

Day One - Travel

As you're traveling to Colorado spend some time thanking God for allowing you to go on this trip.

02

Day Two - Mountains

As you are taking in the sights meditate on what the Bible says about mountains:

---
Genesis 22:14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
Psalm 95:4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.
Psalm 36:5-6 Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, LORD, preserve both people and animals.
Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Isaiah 49:13 Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Mark 9:2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.

Day Three - Paths

When you're hiking stay on the path. Watch out for cacti and look for game trails. What does the Bible say about staying on the right path?

---
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 119:9-11 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:104-105 I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Isaiah 26:7-8 The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.

Day Four - Rocks

What does the Bible say about rocks?

---
Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Matthew 27:50-51 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split

Day Five - Trees

What does the Bible say about trees?

---
Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.
Isaiah 44:22-23 I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.” Sing for joy, you heavens, for the LORD has done this; shout aloud, you earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees, for the LORD has redeemed Jacob, he displays his glory in Israel.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Is your life firmly established, rooted, and bearing fruit? What evidence is there?

Day Six - Wind

What does the Bible say about the wind?

---
1 Kings 19:11-13 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
Proverbs 30:4 Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know!
Amos 4:13 He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth— the LORD God Almighty is his name.
Mark 4:39-41 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
John 3:7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
---
You can feel the wind and if you listen you hear the wind; you can't see the wind but it still has an affect.

Do you feel God at work?

What did you hear the Spirit say this week?

Did Jesus calm any storms in your life this week?

Are you glad you came on this trip?

This IS Kyle and Trey walking you through key Biblical principals that will help you avoid prolonged adolescence while helping you embrace biblical manhood. What does it mean to be "called" into ministry? Am I called?

Carriage House Dining

Some people feel a strong pull toward ministry but aren’t sure what it means—or what to do next. Others worry they might miss God’s calling altogether. This workshop will help you think biblically and wisely about vocational ministry. We will discuss the key indicators of calling, how the church confirms a calling, and practical steps to test and clarify what God may be leading you toward. If you’ve ever wondered whether ministry might be part of your future, this conversation will help you discern the next step.

How to Fight with Your Friends

Cedar Ridge Upper

How can we have relationships that are empathetic, kind, accepting, and gracious, while also being firm enough to speak the truth in love and to seek reconciliation when things are uncomfortable? How can we live out the full potential of what community as the body of Christ is meant to be? How can we prevent our enemy from deceiving us and allowing bitterness to take root, and instead, do the hard work to live in deeper intimacy with one another, experiencing the joy of clear, robust friendships in unity, as Christ's bride?

Unmet Expectations

Big Horn Upper

What do you do when your plans or circumstances lead to unmet expectations, questions and confusion about God’s will for your life, or just overall unfulfillment? You thought you were on the right path or maybe you did finally reach your goals, yet you don’t feel as fulfilled as you expected. Did you misinterpret God’s plan for your life? We would love to discuss what it looks like to navigate seasons of unmet expectations and how the Lord brings clarity to what satisfaction and fulfillment truly mean.
